Brief description : The
old 'Prisoners' game we used to play at school !
Eliminate all opposing players by hitting them with the
ball, and not allowing them to hit you back - save your
team mate with a catch!
BASIC RULES of the Game:
Teams:
1.
Teams will be composed of 5
players and 1 reserve.
2.
There are no gender
restrictions, players can be all male, all female or
mixed
Boundaries:
1.
During play, all players must
remain within the boundary lines
2.
A player shall not leave the
playing field to avoid being hit or attempt to catch a
ball
3.
Players may not cross the
centrelines (Dead Zone) to retrieve balls on the
opposing teams side
Game Play:
The object of the game is to eliminate all opposing
players by getting them OUT
thus be declared winner.
An
OUT is scored by:
1.
Hitting an opposing player
with a LIVE ball (one that has not been deflected, hit
any of the boundaries or hit the ground)
2.
Catching a LIVE ball thrown by
your opponent
3.
Causing an opponent to drop a
held ball as a result of contact by a thrown LIVE ball
(Occurs when a held ball is being used the block a
thrown LIVE ball)
4.
An opposing player stepping
out of bounds (End Lines or Centre Lines)
5.
If a LIVE ball is caught, an
OUT player comes back IN play, in the order of which
they went OUT
Beginning the Game
(Opening Rush) :
1.
Game begins by placing the 3
dodge balls in the ‘Dead zone’
2.
Players take position ‘one
foot’ touching their end line
3.
Following a signal by the
official/s, teams may approach the centreline to
retrieve the balls
4.
Once a ball is retrieved it
must back to the ‘Quarter line’ before it can be
thrown
5.
Attack line restriction ends
when all balls have been taken into the backcourt for
the opening rush. Space between the ‘Quarter line’ and
the ‘Dead zone’ are not safety zone during the opening
rush. If an opposing team takes the ball back to the
‘Quarter line’ and hits and opposing player while that
player is still within the ‘Dead zone’ and ‘Quarter
line’, the hit player is OUT
Penalties:
1.
It is illegal for any team to
control all the balls for more then 5 seconds
2.
Teams are to make an effort
and throw at least one ball in the opposing field. If a
team doesn’t throw balls, within 5 seconds when noticed
by an Official, a warning is issued as the game
continues to play, though if a second warning is
issued, ONE player chosen by the Official is sent OUT.
3.
Hitting the ceiling with the
ball – player is OUT.
Court Officials:
1.
Referees / Officials may warn
players who display unsportsmanlike conduct
2.
Any player receiving (2)
warnings in a game will be ejected from the game and
suspended a minimum of one game
3.
Any team receiving (3)
warnings in one game will forfeit that game
4.
The Referee’s decision is
final – no exceptions!
